26th January, Black History Month Poster Contest. Below is our poster contest please get your kids, nieces, nephews, grandkids and any other children you know to participate to not only possibly win a cool prize, but to learn about Black History in Chatham-Kent

January 19th, The Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society has started a petition in hopes of making the Municipality of Chatham-Kent aware of the need for a Bus Stop in front of or close to the WISH Centre here in Chatham. Being the home of not only the CKBHS, but also the J.G. Taylor Community Centre and the Public Health Unit. If you haven’t done so already please stop into the Museum or see one of our Board Members/Employees to sign the Petition.
January 15th, we are already starting to receive Group Tour bookings for Spring and Summer. Please think about booking in advance to ensure you get your Dates!
January 11th, we pulled this out of the backroom. The Slave Box. Make sure to stop in and see it in person, get the real idea of how a Slave had to travel to Freedom.
January 6th, Susan is still working diligently on reorganizing our records in the Research Room. During this time you are still more then welcome to pop in for Research.
January 5th, We are looking for a couple of Volunteers who are willing to help out with our Black History Month Event, taking place the 6th of March.

January 4th, we are now back to regular business after the Holiday season. We have lots of updating going on to the display and to our records. Be sure to pop in for a visit!
We are excited to announce that Susan Solomon has officially joined the CKBHS Staff as our new Office Assistant. We are excited she now has a position here as she’s been volunteering day in and day out. Make sure you pop in and congratulate her!
