Press Release: The Chatham-Kent Black Historical Society is excited to celebrate its 17th Annual John Brown Festival on Saturday, May 7th from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. The event will be held at the WISH Centre, 177 King Street East, Chatham. This year the Society will welcome guest speakers: Deirdre McCorkindale, a native to Chatham-Kent speaking on Martin Delany; Wayne Lloyd with a presentation on Jason Grant and JC Brown; and students from Windsor University discussing their Chatham All-Stars project. We will enjoy the appearance of John Spicer, a John Brown Impersonator, as well as some local entertainment throughout the event. Shantelle Browning-Morgan will be rounding out our guest speakers this year. A special raffle will take place to raise funds for museum upgrades. Members of the Kent Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society will be on hand to promote the discovery of family history. Attached is a poster of our event which promises to be an educational and entertaining afternoon.
